21,000 original miles
Only two-owners since new.
Located in Midwest USA.
Price: $50,000.
The bike is virtually factory stock
and original with the exception of some stainless steel hardware (nuts
and bolts) of Tony Maughan's. This is a two owner machine that has the
original factory paint and decals
on tank. Decal on steering
head is original. Bike has had only one rebuild in it's existence, that
by Tony. I don't believe there is anyone in the world who restores
a Vincent to the standard that he does.
This bike was in a motorcyle dealer's
private museum for over twenty years when the current owner purchased it.
He has owned the bike since 1982.
Original Korean war (no chrome)
factory rims. Even the stop lamp is original. The owner pulled
it off the bike before it was shipped to Maughan, as he was afraid it might
not survive.
The bike was air-freighted to Tony
with the mandate to complete and total mechanical restoration. Every
single component of the bike was dis-assembled and rebuilt from the front
forks to the rear stop lamp. Tony then returned all the original
parts he replaced. This was done over a period of eighteen months.
Total engine disassembly including: new crankpin, bearings and bushings,
8:1 cr
pistons/rings, valves, guides,
and springs. Totally rebuiilt clutch, new primary chain.
All paint on bike is factory original
with patina except for the lower engine cases which were of necessity re-painted
by Tony Maughan after his rebuild.
Two sets of wheels. The factory originals with the Korean War original finish. And a set of Akronts painted and striped to replicate originals. Factory wheels have original wheel weights. As new tires on both sets of wheels. All numbers correct and matching. Receipts from Maughan. Two page letter from xxxxxx, who describes the test rides by xxxxxx, and terming the bike "one of the best Shadows around. Toolkit is original, a few tools are misssing.
