The bike was bought by in 1992 from a fellow West London
member, John Dathan, who was ill at the time.
He has since passed away, but his widow and other Vincent
owning friends have supplied much detail of the outfit.
John bought the bike around 1968 and rebuilt it as a standard
Rapide. It won the best standard Vincent award at the Isle of
Man Vincent rally in 1970. Was in regular solo use throughout
the 70s and 80s, and travelled to many rallies, including the VOC
International meeting in 1987 (is the right date?)
The side car was attached in the late 1980s. There are MOTs showing regular use.
The bike has:
1970s British switch gear.
Indicators and 12 v electrics
Series D rear sub frame.
Large petrol tank
Handebar mounted screen
Both Vincents have been authorised by the VOC that all
numbers match and have certs to prove it.
Both bikes are Tax'd and Mot'd and were started up as
recently in March of 2006
Bike has been checked out by Conway's and noisy gearbox
bearing repaired.
